"The ability to organize and search information and shared resources quickly and effectively is critical to success in today's knowledge base economy," said Michael Chasen, president and CEO of Blackboard. "The Google partnership provides a tremendous value to people across a campus community, allowing them to develop greater search literacy to find information within academic departments, across disciplines and even on campuses in other locations."
The Blackboard Building Block for Google OneBox enables institutions who use Google Search appliances to add OneBox modules which search information within the Blackboard Academic suite and combine the results from Blackboard with the results from the appliance. Specifically, the OneBox modules allow people to search from their Google Search Appliance and find:
- Courses in the Course Catalog of the Blackboard Learning System™ – Enterprise License
- Organizations in the Organization Catalog of the Blackboard Community System™
- Learning Objects in the Learning Object Catalog of the Blackboard Content System™
